Davide Scalenghe has joined OVID Health as its head of global strategy and partnerships.
In this new role, Scalenghe “will focus on expanding the agency’s international footprint,” according to a May 11 release. This will include “supporting clients operating in high-pressure and rapidly evolving environments, particularly across global health, philanthropy and international development.”
He has serious chops in this regard. His most recent role was as head of global public health at Edelman, but unusually for an agency hire, he also has experience across nonprofits, major advocacy groups and journalism.
That experience includes humanitarian field communications work with Médecins Sans Frontières in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, international development advisory work across Africa and Asia with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and UNAIDS, and journalism and broadcasting roles with CNN, Discovery and Current TV.
“I’ve spent much of my career working in environments where communications is not simply about visibility, but about trust, legitimacy and the ability to move people and systems toward action,” Scalenghe said in a statement.
“What drew me to OVID is its fresh approach and deep sector expertise, alongside the opportunity to build something highly strategic, agile and internationally relevant at a moment when organizations are operating under enormous pressure—politically, financially and reputationally.”
