Gilead inks another deal with Korean API manufacturer Yuhan, this time worth $140M

Gilead Sciences has broadened its partnership with Korean manufacturer Yuhan, agreeing to a 210 billion Korean won ($140 million) supply deal for active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) for an undisclosed product.

The accord, which runs through the end of 2027, was disclosed (Korean) in a regulatory filing with the Korea Exchange (KRX) this week.

The value of the deal works out to 9.6% of the revenue Yuhan generated in 2025, according to the disclosure. The company, which has two API manufacturing facilities in South Korea, is growing at a rapid clip. In the first quarter, the company's overseas sales were up 21%.

Gilead’s prior partnerships with Yuhan include a 2018 $45 million arrangement to supply API for an HIV treatment. Two years ago, the company signed another HIV supply contract for $81 million.

The latest deal marks Gilead's fourth for drug ingredients with Yuhan, according to Korea Biomedical Review, which reported Wednesday that the agreements have now reached a collective value of roughly $270 million.

Earlier this month, Yuhan separately signed a $38 million, two-year deal with BridgeBio to supply API for its cardiomyopathy treatment, Attruby.

Outside of API, Gilead forked over $15 million upfront for a piece of a metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) prospect from Yuhan in 2019, with up to $770 million in potential milestone payments.

Five years later, the companies agreed to terminate the project after producing disappointing preclinical data.
